“A single rose can be my garden…a single friend, my world.” Leo F. Buscaglia
As a One Stroke Certified painting Instructor since 2001, I must’ve painted THOUSANDS of roses and taught hundreds of students, ranging in age from four, to a lovely 80 year-old woman who had never painted before. So it’s a no-brainer for me. I LOVE roses, and I have yet to come across someone who doesn’t. Over the years, I had apparently developed my own style of painting “One Stroke” roses. Someone who I hadn’t seen in six years saw my work at an art fair, and I overheard her telling her friend, Debbie Viola painted this. I asked how she knew, and she said she could pick my roses out of a line-up. That was the first time I realized I must have had a style. Kinda neat! Now, I am trying to break that mold and paint what I am seeing in front of me, rather than paint the way I had been taught. So, here we have it, my rendition of a beautiful summer rose, painted in oils on a 4 x 4 gallery wrap canvas.
