DID YOU KNOW? The rose is the official National Floral emblem of the United States. President Ronald Reagan signed this legislation into law on October 7, 1986.
Today I worked with a palette that wasn’t as bright and vivid as yesterday’s rose. I also made the background more colorful . One style of painting that I am always drawn to is where you can see the brush strokes. I love how adding one tiny stroke of an unexpected color changes the feel of a painting and makes it a happy one. The little dash of yellow near the top right of the rose makes me smile. How about you?
I actually finished this painting in daylight, believe it or not, so I was able to photograph it outside in natural light. In addition to the painting challenge, photographing the work is another totally different challenge! But I think the photo came out pretty well. SALMON ROSE, 6 X 6 OIL ON GALLERY WRAP CANVAS
