As I began painting this on another 9/11/01 annive

As I began painting this on another 9/11/01 anniversary when I couldn't sleep, I tried to express the pit in my stomach that I felt, all these years later. I thought about the thousands of people that were murdered on September 11, and all the empty chairs they left behind -- at the dinner table, and Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and family birthdays, and weddings, and barbecues, and special occasions and gatherings. The youngest victim was a little girl two years old. Look at all she has missed and could've been as a young adult. It's still unimaginable. Because of those heinous acts on that day, tens of thousands of family members and friends' lives have changed forever as well. So much sadness and hate still exists in this world stemming from September 11. I'm afraid even more now, than ever. My prayer this country is that we all reflect and try to live our lives like we did on September 12, 2001 and those early days that followed. As a New Yorker, it was amazing to witness the camaraderie and compassion people had for one another. You could even notice the difference in drivers; it was unreal.

This year, I delivered a print of this painting to my client, a widow of a firefighter, who perished along with his firefighter brother. Unimaginable suffering by one family.

God Bless everyone affected by that horrific day, including first responders who are still dying, and God Bless America.

Today is a day to celebrate the American Flag and the meaning behind it. I am very proud to be an American, and I honor the men and women who died protecting it, so that we may live this life in the greatest country in the world. It's scary that not everyone who lives here believes in those same values, and I can only hope that those that truly love our country and the freedom it represents, will outweigh those that are trying to bring it down.

"And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA"

On May 30, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation establishing a national Flag Day on June 14. Many Americans celebrate Flag Day by displaying the Red, White and Blue in front of homes and businesses. The day commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States.

Let’s Start Over! I’m so happy you are here. I hope you will give me the grace that I am giving myself with my Instagram account. I felt like a CEO when I finally delegated my social media over to a virtual assistant so that I could turn my attention to what I do best —creating art for my collectors and interior designers, and teaching others how to paint. Over time, I saw how my pages were becoming so impersonal and way too salesy. So I finally bit the bullet and let my VA go.
